Luminous Offerings Series : Workshop 3
Full Moon Dance & Lantern Making
October o8, 2025, Barwon Downs, VIC
Thirteen women gathered for the third sold out session – some returning from previous workshops to continue the journey, as well as many new faces, curious and excited to explore the practice.
The theme colour was white. The venue was activated with lighting installations, sound, sensory areas, making tables, and creative props used as markers, as well as for dance.
The session explored the full moon following the Spring Equinox – the midpoint between Spring and Summer.
Honouring the ancient art of lantern making, participants were guided to create seasonally inspired moon-shaped lanterns to take home and use in their art practices. This was a hands-on, gluey affair harkening back to artsmock days — creating with glue, balloons, tissue paper, pressed flowers and foliage.
The dance practice was led barefoot on green grass in the sunshine and then moved inside to explore group activities and processional lantern dances. The session ended with a full moon meditation and visualisation followed by our signature “AfterMoon” Tea.
Participants left with their drying lanterns for the final stages of curing and a tealight LED candle to light up their creations. Photos of the lanterns were later shared and celebrated within the group at the “Lantern Light Up”.
